About the Music

"Fantastic Baroque" is an extravagant program filled with some of the most popular music of all time! Bach's famous Toccata & Fugue in D Minor is performed not on a pipe organ but by a solo violinist, bringing all its flourish and theatricality to a transcription by virtuoso Tatiana Chulochnikova! Pachelbel's timeless Canon in D Major and Bach's third Brandenburg Concerto could hardly be better celebrated than by the performances you'll hear in this concert of tried-and-true gems. A trio of compositions by Vivaldi includes the mysterious and moody "La notte" concerto for flutist Bethanne Walker. And the phenomenal violinist YuEun Gemma Kim will perform a jaw-dropping transcription of Bach's famous D minor concerto, often heard for harpsichord! This is an absolutely thrilling program.
