2020 Festival & Academy Postponement

A Message from ABS Executive Director Don Scott Carpenter

It is with deep sadness that American Bach Soloists announces the postponement of the 2020 Festival & Academy until the summer of 2021 due to COVID-19. This decision has not been made in haste, but with diligent concern for our patrons, musicians, Academy participants, faculty, and staff.

While this will not come as a complete surprise, it is yet another in a long string of unfortunate losses due to the pandemic. I want you to know that we’ve been hoping and working—since the pandemic began—to see if we could go forward in some form, but we’ve come to the realization that this is not going to be feasible. I want to thank the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for their collegiality through this and for their effort in trying to make something achievable.

As you know, there are so many in need at this time, and ABS is no different. In addition to the daily audio selections sent via e-mail, “ABS at Home,” we are working on other ways to be present in your life. We will be here for you when the pandemic is over, but we need your financial support to continue in order to do so. Whether you assist us with a contribution now or later, I simply ask that you continue to support us during the pandemic, so that our musicians can continue to enrich our lives in the future. Your generosity, at this time, is appreciated more than ever!

Meanwhile, single tickets and new subscriptions for the 2020-2021 season, currently planned to begin in December, will go on sale in June; subscription renewals continue now.

For now, we send you the very best of wishes and continuous hope of safety and well-being.

We will make music again!

With deepest gratitude,

Don Scott Carpenter
Executive Director
