Celebrate
2020

THE MID-POINT OF ABS'S 2020-2021 SEASON FEATURES A TRILOGY OF FESTIVE EVENTS.

Sparkle 2020
Online Auction & Virtual Gala

Historically, over 150 supporters of the arts come together for “Sparkle,” a glamorous evening that includes wine, dinner, and a silent and live auction. However, due to COVID-19 and its associated restrictions, ABS is moving our 2020 event online. This year, you will be able spend a week from the comfort of your home—September 6-12— bidding (or outbidding) other patrons on a varied list of auction items including wine, art, and jewelry, as well as Zoom classes with some of ABS’s musicians, board members, and friends. Our virtual event—September 12—will include pre-event cocktail Zoom rooms with ABS Musicians, and then our live event featuring Jeffrey Thomas and others.

Online Auction • September 6–12 2020

American Bach Soloists, led by Artistic & Music Director Jeffrey Thomas, present their annual performances of Handel’s masterpiece, Messiah, in one of San Francisco’s most awe-inspiring, sacred spaces. ABS, Handel, and Grace Cathedral are perennially a winning combination and a highlight of the holiday season. Since 1998, ABS has presented Messiah in San Francisco’s historic Grace Cathedral to more than 50,000 attendees. A Bay Area holiday tradition now in its 23rd consecutive year, ABS’s performances of Handel’s timeless work attract music lovers from around the world, and they have become an essential part of the musical year for many music lovers. Voted “Best of the Bay” by the readers of San Francisco Classical Voice, the Bay Area Reporter observed, “For those who treasure Messiah, Thomas’ version is revelatory.” No other Bay Area performances come close to offering the visual, aural, and emotional qualities that have made ABS’s performances of Messiah in Grace Cathedral so superlative. Maestro Thomas will conduct the period-instrument specialists of ABS, the renowned American Bach Choir, and an internationally acclaimed quartet of brilliant vocal soloists.
