The brewery also received the 2004 European Beer Star Gold Medal for best German-Style Pilsner, winning against all German and international competitors in a category that represents the most popular style of Bavaria, where the competition was held. 305. Trio of French Wines
Seigneur de Lauris Gigonde 2004 is a rich Côte du Rhône made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan aged in oak barrels from Maison Arnoux, a winery operating in this region for nearly 300 years. Château Tour Chantecaille 2005, a Grand Cru St. Emilion from the stellar 2005 vintage, is a youthful, medium garnet-colored wine with a well-rounded nose of raspberry, blackberry and earth aromas. Still a bit young (cellar for at least one year), this wine impresses with a textured palate of berry fruit, cherries, dark chocolate, and spice. Bourgonge Haute Côtes de Beaune 2006 is a rich Burgundian Chardonnay. Like all great white Burgundy, this wine has been fermented in oak barrels, producing lovely elegant Chardonnay with just the right weight of ripe fruit that is suitable for cellaring.
