| PATRICK VAN GOETHEM (countertenor),
educated in the baroque field by Paul Esswood, Julia Hamari
and Andreas Scholl, is a frequently requested concert singer,
working with distinguished conductors in the early music
field and appearing in important early music festivals. With
the Netherlands Bach Society he sang Bach's Magnificat
conducted by Gustav Leonhardt in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
With Reinhard Goebel (Musica Antiqua Köln) he sang in
a Bach cantata project during the Festival Musica Antiqua
Bruges and in Telemann's Der Messias in the
Festival De La Chaise-Dieu (France). As part of the Bach
Year 2000, he sang Bach's St. Matthew Passion in
the Thomaskirche in Leipzig with the Leipziger Barockorchester.
Also, with Helmuth Rilling's Bach Collegium Stuttgart
he performed during the Bachfest Stuttgart, and with Edward
Higginbottom (New College Choir) he sang Messiah in
Poznan (Poland). In a co-production of Collegium Vocale Gent
and the Combattimento Consort he sang in Purcell's Dido
and Aeneas in the
Amsterdam Concertgebouw. In 2004 he recorded Bach's
Himmelfahrts- and Oster-Oratorium on the
BIS-label with the Bach Collegium Japan conducted by Masaaki
Suzuki with concerts in Tokyo and Kobe. Future engagements
include concerts in the prestigeous Bachwoche Ansbach as
part of the Bach Year 2005. In 2006 Patrick Van Goethem
will record the Buxtehude cantatas in a project with Ton
Koopman and The Amsterdam Baroque
Orchestra followed by a large European concert tour in 2007.
