| TONIA D'AMELIO (soprano),
called "engrossing" by the San Francisco Chronicle and praised in San Francisco Classical Voice for her "striking tone" and "beautiful phrasing," enjoys an active career performing with Bay Area ensembles including the American Bach Soloists, AVE, the Philharmonia Chorale, The Pacific Collegium, and Volti. A native of New York City, she holds degrees in music from Harvard University and in voice from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and has a keen interest in singing sacred music—from Gregorian chant to large-scale concerted works—in liturgical contexts. She has performed as a soloist with the American Bach Soloists, Vaughan Williams’ Mass in G; Philharmonia Baroque, Vivaldi and Rosenmüller’s Magnificats; with the Pacific Collegium, Finzi’s Dies Natalis, Clérambault’s Miserere, and Vivaldi’s Nulla in mundo pax sincera; with the Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys, Mozart’s and Allegri’s Miserere; with City Concert Opera Orchestra, Martin’s Le Vin Herbé, as "Branghien" and in Handel’s Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno, as "Piacere"; and wih Artists' Vocal Ensemble (AVE), Monteverdi, Vespers. She is featured on Volti's latest recording on the Innova label, Turn the Page, in Stacy Garrop's Sonnets of Beauty and Music.
