CHERYL SUMSION (soprano) has performed and recorded for
four seasons with the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir in Toronto,
and has sung both as a soloist and as a chorister with other
professional choirs in Canada where she has been an annual
soloist for performances of Handel's Messiah. Cheryl
has sung on eleven commercial CD releases of choral and
children's music, and has performed in or directed
18 musicals. She has also performed throughout England during
three Cathedral Choir Tours. With the baroque ensemble Arcady,
she has sung the title role in Handel's Esther,
as well as roles in staged performances of Purcell's Dido
and Aeneas, and Handel's Acis and Galatea.
Other musical theater credits include leading female roles
in The Gondoliers, Sorcerer, Pirates of Penzance, The
Boyfriend, Oklahoma! and The Music Man. Cheryl
is an Honours Music graduate of the University of Waterloo.
Her graduate studies include baroque vocal technique and
performance practice, with Julianne Baird, as well as work
in vocal pedagogy and the science of voice production.
