| CHRISTOPHER DEPPE (contrabass)
studied under Buell Neidlinger at the California Institute
of the Arts in Valencia, California. He performed many styles
of music, from early Renaissance to late 20th century. After
graduating, he played in various professional modern orchestras,
including the Pasadena Symphony, Santa Barbara Symphony, and
the Pasadena Chamber Orchestra. He also became involved in
the Los Angeles early music scene, helping to start the first
early music orchestra in the area. In 1985 he moved to Holland
and pursued post-graduate studies at the Royal Conservatory
in The Hague. While in Europe he played with many groups and
conductors, including John Elliot Gardiner, The English Baroque
Soloists, the Orchestre de Révolutionnaire et Romantique,
the Academy of Ancient Music, Musica Antiqua Köln, Frans
Brüggen, the Hannover Band, Ton Koopman, La Chapelle
Royale, and Edo de Waart. He has performed in numerous cities
and festivals throughout Europe, including La Scala, the Concertgebouw,
the Konzerthau Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Westminster Cathedral.
He has made many recordings, including the music of Berlioz,
Mozart, Haydn, Handel, Beethoven, Schumann, Verdi, Brahms,
and Gluck. In 1996 he moved back home to California, and is
now active in both modern and early music in the bay area.
